Natick, MA (May 29, 2025) – IHR Architecture, a firm with 46 years of healthcare design expertise in the Research Triangle, joins Array Architects.
The addition unites two teams committed to simplifying the complexity of healthcare architecture through process-led design, embracing diverse perspectives, and seamless service stemming from exceptional design clarity.
“We couldn’t be more excited about this next phase at Array,” said Noah Tolson, President of Array Architects. “Welcoming IHR into the Array team amplifies our shared passion for delivering innovative, client-focused solutions that improve healthcare environments and patient outcomes.”
The acquisition combines IHR’s local expertise with Array’s national perspective. Over decades the IHR team has built trusted relationships and designed award-winning work with leading providers such as Duke Health, UNC Health, WakeMed, FirstHealth, and others. IHR’s leadership team—including President Nathan Isley, Vice President Malcolm Hawkins, and Vice President Julie Risk—will join Array as principals. Isley will step into the role of Studio Director for Array’s new Durham Studio, working alongside David Martin, Southeast Regional Vice President.
“We’re thrilled to join Array,” said Nathan Isley. “Together, we can scale our impact, blending IHR’s regional knowledge with Array’s national reach to better serve the evolving needs of healthcare clients across the Southeast.”
David Martin, who joined Array earlier this year to lead the Southeast region, added: “This integration marks a new chapter for both firms. It reflects Array’s continued belief that local perspective enhances our ability to deliver holistic, well-informed solutions that drive the best outcomes for our clients.”
Array’s expanded Southeast footprint is backed by a growing list of forward-thinking healthcare partners shaping the future of care delivery, including MUSC Health, McLeod Health, UNC Health, and Northside Hospital. This acquisition advances Array’s goal of providing greater capacity, a deeper roster of experts, and a wider local presence to meet growing demand. The Durham Studio builds on Array’s recent expansions into Charleston, SC (2023) and Charlotte, NC (2025).
