Natick, MA (August 20, 2024) – 243 deals in the U.S. were recorded, marking a highly active start to the year. Employee-owned buyers led the market, while the transportation, water, and power sectors, along with states like CA, TX, and FL, saw the most interest.
Natick, MA (August 20, 2024) – In the first half of 2024, Morrissey Goodale tracked 243 deals in the U.S., marking the second most active start to a year on record. During this period, 156 unique buyers and investors from six different countries engaged in these transactions. Employee-owned buyers emerged as the most prominent, driving 51% of all domestic acquisitions.
They were followed by private equity and PE-backed buyers, who accounted for 42%, with publicly traded buyers making up the remaining 7%. The median revenue of acquirers was $147.9 million, compared to $4.3 million for sellers. Additionally, fifteen ENR Top 500 Design firms were either sold or recapitalized.
The sectors with the highest interest included transportation, water, and power markets, and California, Texas, and Florida continued to be the most sought-after states for deal activity.
