Regional Health Practice Director

The RHPD is responsible for the overall growth and development of the regional health practice. They will provide leadership and guidance regarding regional promotions, pursuits, recruitment, and sales. They will monitor and manage regional practice staffing and their development. They will be responsible to develop and maintain excellent client relationships and possesses a passionate commitment to advancing health through research, thought leadership, design excellence, client experience, social purpose, and sustainability. 

Essential Functions: 

  • Responsible to lead (Seattle) health practice team on planning and delivery of all phases of healthcare engagements
  • Nurture client relationships, creating “Trusted Advisor” relationships; identify possible project opportunities and lead business development efforts
  • Oversee project budgets, profitability, and quality of service for the (Seattle) Regional Health Practice and as needed firm-wide for Health projects
  • Interface with clients, contractor, review agencies, engineering, and specialty consultants                                                                      
  • Provide direct project involvement leading the strategic planning/implementation of projects                                                                                   
  • Facilitate the definition of project scope, goals, and deliverables 
  • Provide project leadership, leading project planning and facilitating client input 
  • Inspire, develop, and mentor staff                                                                                                  
  • Provide performance evaluations for (Seattle) Heath practice staff and track their development                                                           
  • Provide direction and support to project teams
  • Monitor the progress of projects to all stakeholders                                                             
  • Serve as Key primary client liaison to meet project goals and client satisfaction 
  • Estimate fees, determine scope of work, and prepare proposals and contracts
  • Coordinate overall (Seattle) health team project load and use of resources with (Seattle) Managing Principal and the National Health Practice Leader

Competencies:

  • Architectural License preferred but not required
  • Exceptional and intuitive client service along with assurance of project profitability 
  • Comprehensive Knowledge of healthcare industry trends, operations, planning and design requirements and trends
  • Brings existing client relationships and the ability to nurture relationships to become a Trusted Advisor to healthcare providers and institutions
  • Strong presentation and sales capabilities
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and accurately perform a variety of complicated tasks in a fast-paced environment

Certification Requirements

  • Architectural License preferred but not required
  • LEED Accreditation preferred
  • ACHA , EDAC or Six Sigma Certification a plus

Supervisory Requirements

  • Responsible to grow the regional health practice team through effective sales and staff development

Work Environment

  • This position operates in a professional open office environment with low to moderate noise levels including collaborative work areas for team meetings. Each office provides collaborative work areas and shared resources such as video conferencing, printing/scanning, and a café for dining. Building construction sites may include varying temperatures, wind, dust, and noise levels and may include hazardous and dirty conditions. 

Physical Demands

  • Hand/Wrist/Finger dexterity for 8 hours a day, 40 hours a week
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time

Position Type/Hours expected to work

  • This is a full-time position with a minimum expectation of 40 hours per week 

Travel

  • Occasional travel as required to fulfil regional practice development and coordination with national practice leadership 

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor of Science in Architecture or Bachelor of Architecture required (accredited university preferred) 
  • Master of Architecture preferred 
  • A minimum of 15 years professional healthcare programming, planning and/or architectural management preferred
