Job Description

The Director of Data Analytics will gather, organize, interpret and make available for internal and external users all of the data that the firm gathers in its Advisory work including from (a) Strategy, Buy Side, Sell Side, Strategic Options, OT, and any other engagements either directly from clients or through interactions from potential buyers, sellers or investors, and (b) the firm’s M&A database. This role will ensure that data analytics is effectively leveraged for research, practice improvement, and branding initiatives, supporting the organization’s strategic goals.


Key Responsibilities

Analytics Strategy Development:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive data analytics strategy to support the Advisory business.
  • Identify key data sources (primarily from Advisory engagements), including financial, operational, and organizational data, and integrate them into a cohesive analytics framework.
  • Ensure that analytics processes are efficient, reliable, and scalable.
Data Analysis and Insight Generation:
  • Lead the analysis of complex datasets to generate actionable insights to support the Advisory business.
  • Collaborate with Advisory leaders to identify analytical needs and develop customized solutions.
  • Create and manage dashboards, reports, and other analytical tools that provide visibility into Advisory data.
Advanced Analytics and Innovation:
  • Explore and implement advanced analytics techniques, including predictive modeling, machine learning, and AI, to enhance MG’s Advisory services.
  • Drive innovation by researching and adopting new tools and methodologies that improve data analysis and interpretation.
  • Promote a culture of data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement.
Research and Development:
  • Collaborate with research teams to ensure that data analytics is integrated into research projects and initiatives.
  • Identify trends, patterns, and insights that can be leveraged for strategic advantage.
Branding and Communication:
  • Utilize data analytics to support branding and marketing efforts, helping to refine the organization’s market positioning.
  • Work closely with marketing and communications and Leadership teams to translate data insights into compelling, data-backed narratives.
  • Ensure the accuracy and consistency of data used in public communications and branding.
Team Leadership and Development:
  • Foster a collaborative environment that encourages innovation, knowledge sharing, and best practice dissemination.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in a leadership role within data analytics, business intelligence, or a related area.
  • Strong knowledge of data analysis techniques, statistical methods, and data visualization tools (e.g., SQL, Python, R, Tableau, Power BI).
  • Experience in advanced analytics, including predictive modeling, machine learning, and AI.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex data in a clear and actionable manner.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of emerging analytics technologies and methodologies.
  • Database management and reporting experience.
  • Experience in the Architecture, Engineering, Environmental Services or Professional Services industries.
